New Online Resource for Madated Reporter
In addition to being self-paced, there are other benefits to the Web-based training program. The program is available through PFSA’s Web site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and busy professionals may go through the program at a time that is most convenient to them. The program provides immediate feedback to the trainee following completion of the post-test, so that the trainee will know whether or not they received a passing grade. The program also incorporates both visual and audio methods, as well as interactive segments, to keep the user engaged.
The content of the program will cover five main areas and will provide users with an overview of the Child Protective Services Law, how child abuse is defined in Pennsylvania, how to report suspected child abuse, the legal responsibilities and protections for mandated reporters, penalties for willful failure to report, and more. The topics will include recognition of child abuse, reporting child abuse, responding to suspected child abuse, how to refer non-abuse concerns, and resources for mandated reporters.
Although the training program is a new addition to PFSA’s arsenal of quality resources for mandated reporters in Pennsylvania, it is not intended to replace face-to-face training. The program will be most valuable to individuals who are looking for a refresher and who have already attended training in recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect.
